A&R select made a real slick and nice one for me.. but i'm just mainly a songwriter and am not selling an image, but just a bunch of songs I wrote.


Back in the 60's.. I was a wee lad. My big brother and sisters were both Hippys . I paid close attention to what they did.. I peeked in through the keyhole ( yes .. in our house there were keyholes you could look through ,, the one on the bathroom was stuffed with TP ) but i'd look .. see the smoke.. hear the music.. the very first record I ever played on my own was " Freak Out " by Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention " then more mothers came out.. and then I heard some Tull .. man I wore those records out.. and it got to where I knew when they were going to skip .. so I'd push the needle down harder on the vynal so it diddent jump out of the groove... yeah... then my brother took off.. when I was about 12.. and left a bunch of stuff behind.. a Silvertone acoustic with 4 strings left on it. I played the beegeezus outa that thing.. for a couple years I had the 4 strings .. and they would break ocasionally... and I would tie them.. ( luckily jimmy never trimmed the strings at the top ) ( come to think of it... he doesnt trim much nowadays either ) and if they would break in the middle of the fret board .. well, there would be a knot to hop over... looking back this may not have been a bad thing.... hippity hop across the fretboard aint such a bad thing... and the action was so that you could probably swing a cat between the strings and the fretboard. ( I have two cats.. and I love them.. would never think of swinging them... ) but I played that thing nonstop... then one day I got the idea of gettin new strings.. dont know how I thought about it.. But I hit mom up for a couple bucks.. ( dad had long since passed ) and I walked to the guitar shop at diversey and harlem... mother of gawd..!!! they had shitloads of guitars in there !!! ... well I got my new strings... and a few years later, my mom .. for my birthday.. ( brings tears to my eyes... we never had money... ) she bought me a brand new Alvarez... just the purdiest thing you ever saw,.. and my playing took off from there.. Never played a single cover tune.. never learned one... Of course I knew Smoke on the Water on the fat E .. and I think I learned Drunken Sailor.. ( probably in charecter at the time.. " ) but .. that's pretty much what my life was about... that and a few other things .. on and on I went.. quit school... mom was sad.. worried..So I took the GED ... passed .. I met my Joycie.. ( my wife still ) went to community colledge.. then quit that.. went on a crusade to save the world.. ( which i'm still on BTW ) and then Joycie say's.. " I'm Pregnant " and so she was.. : {) we got married... that's just what folks back then did.. I know... a totally strange concept.. but it still kinda makes sense.. at that point.. at 21 .. I put that Alvarez away.. maybe played it a dozen or so times over the next ten years... then .. a couple more little ones came along.. they broke that guitar a couple times plus an upright Bass belonging to Joycie ... and a few years later the house fire put them both to rest forever... so 22 years goes by .. playing nary a note.. still though .. I was a good PaPa .. raised my kids on "the proper Music " By god..!!! and they havent strayed too far off the path.. So.. all that time goes by.. My brother gets the itch back and picks up guitar again.. having long since been on the wagon Trail.. well.. at least a side path.. hell by now I had a real slick coverd wagon and I was drivin a heard with the Missus.. ( 4 kids now .. oldest is 25.. ? youngest 16 .. ) so anyhow a little under or maybe right at 4 years ago.. my brother Jimmy comes over .. brought his guitar .. leaves it behind when he leaves.. ( Ironic ) I have been back in a dream world ever since.. pretty bizarre.. I have so much to sing and play about now... maybe why I write so much ... but I do write all the time... sometimes too much.. interfering with work and such.. but a couple years ago.. got another Alvarez.. over 200 songs / instrumentals.. and counting.. with no end in sight but for the natural course of things..
