Freedom from Bondage
Modern times have found modern man oppressed by many things. Life today presents new challenges as well as classic hurdles dressed up in modern garb. Music is a way of escape through the mind. “Our greatest pleasure is the release that our music gives to us,” says aMistaREX of 8.5.24. “We feel free and burdened less in a time of bondage. But the release on tap here is more than avoiding the world through escapist entertainment. This is entertainment that confronts life head-on. The fan may partake of his own release through 8.5.24’s musical expression.
Outlet
Music is the artist’s heart speaking directly to the spirit of another. It’s how the freedom is shared. 8.5.24’s hip-hop lyrics (i.e. spoken word poetry with muscle) deliver hard-hitting ideas for the savvy listener. “The mouth is the gate the heart uses as its outlet.” The words pour out and mingle with beats and, before you know it, the message is out there.
Survival
Just bearing witness to those who have made it and overcome their hardships provides all the inspiration 8.5.24 needs. It’s all about determination and this hip-hop artist ably displays a stick-to-it spirit, the heart of those who do not back down. “Survival of those who didn’t crumble under pressure, a king who is in touch with his people …” Therein is 8.5.24’s truth in a vehicle of music. 8.5.24 members have worked with SMK and Big CaPone whom have opened for 50 Cent, Outkast, Mr. Cheeks and more. The group has announced several forthcoming projects. They are: “The Dark Edition” chapters 1 and 2, “W.A.R. Chapter 1: ‘Our Minds in Melee,” and “W.A.R. Chapter 2: Diaries of a Soldier.” 8.5.24 is currently working with A&R Select, the hottest indie A&R firm in Hollywood.
